Mike grew up in Bucks County in suburban Philadelphia attending Neshaminy High School and becoming an Eagle Scout. He published his first works while in college, a poem and research in social psychiatry before graduating in 1995 with a B.S. in Psychology and membership in Psi Chi National Honor Society. Working first in the counseling field and then in education, he found his way to the DC area where he learned Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software which was an emerging technology at that time. Working in that field in the private sector for 14 years, Mike took on the building of a GIS department for a state agency in West Virginia where he continues to serve as a manager.
Mike married his lovely wife Julie in 2001 with whom he has traveled extensively throughout the world. They have two wonderful children together who have joined in on the travels. Mike is also active in various organizations, serving various roles in his church, local community organizations, and has taken on leadership roles particularly in the Odd Fellows which seeks to improve the lives of its members and the communities it serves. He also is a co-host on The Three Links Oddcast, an Odd Fellows focused podcast.
Always an avid writer, Mike hasn't been much of a publisher until recently. "I just wrote because I enjoyed writing." Score of poems, songs, short stories, essays and books litter note books and flash drives and may never see the light of day. "I may go back and look at more of my old stuff, but right now I'm focused on what's next."
What's next is an eclectic mix of stories, biographies, histories, explorations, and a couple novels. "I kind of jump around based on my mood and work on one thing for awhile before wanting to work on something else. Whatever gets done next is anyone's guess." For the purposes of this site, we've listed the projects that are completed or nearly complete and expected to be complete in the near future, but as Mike points out, something else may get done first.
"It's already in my mind and I just need the time to get it out. What comes out depends on what I'm thinking about when I have the time to sit down and write."
Asked if he had any advice for those who have an interest in writing, Mike said, "Write because you love writing and can put your heart into it. It doesn't matter if it's what anyone else wants. Write for yourself and, if you feel like it's something someone else might like, share it or publish it. If you write for yourself, everything you write matters."
Asked why he waited so long to publish any of his work, Mike was candid. "I like to write. That's where the fun and excitement is. Publishing is just work."
